1. How do I use Total-Zymes® properly?

Total-Zymes® should be taken with every meal. One scoop of Total-Zymes® will digest one cup of any pet food. Total-Zymes® should be consumed just before or during meals, for help with stomach related symptoms like gas, burping, water retention, bloating, fatigue, etc. Mix with canned food or sprinkle over dry kibble.

2. Why are the enzymes in this formula measured in FCCPU instead of mg.?

Enzymes are measured by reaction time, rather than by amount or weight. The unit measurements used for each enzyme refers to the length of time and the intensity of the reactions it creates.

3. What can I expect to see with my pet after using this formula?

Pets suffering from gas, poor digestion, bloating, cramping, fatigue after eating or odd cravings, can expect these symptoms to diminish after just a few meals when taking this formula. Other enzyme deficiency related conditions like stool eating; chronic constipation, loose stool or joint pain will improve over time depending on the individual animal. You should notice significant improvement of these conditions with 2-3 weeks if you are taking the formula faithfully.

4. What is the difference between plant and animal based enzymes?

Plant-based enzymes are derived from many sources including pineapple, papaya and mushroom-based fermentation. Animal-based enzymes are extracted from the pancreatic tissue of slaughtered pigs and cows. The high pH environment of the small intestine is the only place animal-based enzymes can function, as they are extremely sensitive to low pH ranges. This means that animal based enzymes may not survive outside of this environment. Plant-based enzymes are not destroyed by the acidic conditions of the stomach and are therefore stable in the upper stomach, where they can begin processing food immediately.

5. Can I give my pet Total-Zymes® while he or she is on medication?

This formula has not been shown to interact with any medication, however if you have any specific questions, please direct them to your veterinarian.

6. Are there side effects with Total-Zymes®?

When taken as directed there are no known side effects with this formula.

7. Can I give Total-Zymes® to my puppies or kittens?

This formula can be safely given to all pets regardless of age. Pets need Total-Zymes® as soon as they start eating processed food. Add Total-Zymes® to any cold or room temperature food or beverage. Remember heat and cooking destroys enzymes.

8. What if my child gets into the Total-Zymes® powder and eats a lot?

A child could eat the entire container of Total-Zymes® and there would be no bad side effects except possibly a mild cleansing effect such as temporary diarrhea.

9. Would any pet benefit from Total-Zymes®?

Yes any pet that would naturally eat an all raw food diet in the wild will benefit greatly from Total-Zymes® And really do you know any pets that cook there food in the wild?

Protease 6.0; Is used to break down proteins to peptides. It will not digest protein to amino acids. A second enzyme is necessary for that to happen.

Protease 3.0; Is used to break down proteins in a different PH range.

Protease 4.5; Is used to break down proteins in a different PH range then the other two.

Peptidase; Help digest protein molecules. Four varieties of protease enzymes have been combined in this formula to compensate for higher protein diets of pets.

Amylase;  An enzyme that breaks down sugars and starches. Good for those hidden sugars in pet treats. And helps digest corn, potatoes, rice ect.

Alpha-Galactosidase; This enzyme breaks down carbohydrates, such as vegetables, whole grains. It can help prevent the gas and other gastrointestinal symptoms.

Phytase; Breaks down carbohydrates, specifically phytates in plants. It can increase mineral absorption and the bio-availability of iron, zinc, calcium, and magnesium.

Hemicellulase; Is used to breakdown carbohydrates, especially polysaccharides such as hemicelluloses, which are found in plant foods.

SUGGESTED USE:

One scoop (approximately 625 mg) of each product per cup of pet food. A free scoop is inside every can of Total-Zymes® and Total-Biotics®. Put the amount of food to be treated in a container with a snap on lid. Add one scoop of each formula for each cup of food. You can treat the entire days worth of kibble all at one time and then feed out of that container for all the meals that day. You can treat, if you wish, only the kibble, but then add enough of both formulas to cover other foods such as canned or roll food that will be added to the dish that day.

Directions for raw fed pets.

Assuming that you are feeding only 100% raw meat with no potatoes, rice or vegetables that needs to be cooked. What I recommend for raw fed dogs is this. Cut the amount of Total-Zymes® to ¼ to ½ scoops per cup of raw food. The benefit is, Total-Zymes® will replace the enzymes lost in freezing and handling of the meat. Then the enzymes over and above what is needed to digest the food will be used systemically to combat inflammation and joint discomfort. Those enzymes will also work on possible allergens such as pollen, dander, dust mite feces and more. It can also prevent a reaction with flea bite saliva; there is a protein in flea’s salvia that causes the itch.

Total-Biotics® on the other hand should be doubled to two scoops per cup of raw food. This will insure your pet’s intestinal tract will remain well populated with good bacteria thus crowding out bad bacteria and yeasts. Because the meat is not a fresh kill, like it would be in the wild, (a squirrel or rabbit) and has been handled in a commercial meat packing plant the possibility of bacterial contamination is greater (E.coli, salmonella ,etc.). Remember freezing does not kill bacteria.
